Hi, my name is Sarah, and I’m the reigning princess of GenXPosterChild. This is what I look like:sarahanneusethisone.jpg, but don’t let it fool you. Before my hair was blonde, it was purple.

Do you ever wake up with the feeling of “what the hell am I doing here?” Can you ever see the days stretch into months and then years and all you can think of is “What’s the point?” and take a nap? Do you look at such terms like ‘underachiever,’ ’slacker,’ ‘professional student,’ ‘jaded/cynical/bitter’ as compliments? Are you still a bit mad that you were too young to be around for the original punk movement? Do you remember Eddie Murphy and/or Phil Hartman on SNL? While growing up, did you get sucked into hair bands with really tight jeans, or did you go for the more ‘mod’ bi-level hairstyles and wear nothing but black?

Today, with all that’s happened in this world, are you kind of pissed off that the generations who preceeded you kept borrowing, using you as collateral? When you look into the future, do you see sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, or do you see the Baby Boomers sucking our economy and society dry? Can the kid across the street set up your stereo system faster than you?

All of these I believe set Generation X apart, and it’s stuff like this and hopefully more random postings and comments like this that you’ll find on my site. Other than my hair, here are a few facts about me: I have a BA in English, am a paralegal and travel agent, went to massage therapy and bartending school, and am able to teach yoga and pilates, and I do NONE OF THEM. I’m 30-something, and I live in Hawaii (which is NOT what it’s cracked up to be). My books are my life, followed by my music. The longest boyfriend I’ve ever had has been with my dog, who sadly passed away last year. I’m not like other people in lots of ways, and it’s taken me most of my life to be able to deal with that.

If you want to know more, come check out my website at www.GenXPosterChild.com. Don’t worry about the punctuation. I’d love to share what I know and learn what others have to share. Thank you for checking this out, and I look forward to you visiting my site soon!

Step up to The InterChange Desk…

I guess we all have fetishes, obsessions, or vices. Everyone has three as the old saying goes.

While changing careers is not exactly something I do for kicks, I sometimes wonder if they’ll put me in rehab for being a serial career changer though.

In a way my latest blog, The InterChange Desk, which I launched last month is yet another career turn for me.

Now I’m a full time blogger. Don’t ask me to list everything else I’ve done, that alone would surely exceed my 500 word limit here!

Except to say my past work has bought me into contact with Mick Jagger’s brother Chris, two serving Prime Ministers, and a couple of DJs from one of London’s biggest radio stations. And even the current captain of the Australian Rugby team.

Ok, that wasn’t quite work, he owns a chain of coffee shops in Sydney, and I happened to be in one of them when he made an appearance. Nice chap, has a very hands on approach, he even served us our coffee personally!

Anyway, I think I’m at the point where the only option work wise left to me was to start my own business. After all, every recruiter in town crosses the street very suddenly when they see me walk around the corner.

“Oh My God - there’s that serial career changer again - I don’t think there’s a single recruiter left in town that can help him!”

That’s if there’s still a single recruiter left in business after I’ve finished traumatising them all that is, mwah ha ha…

But seriously if I’m not making a career change then I’m talking about it.

For instance whenever the conversation turns to matters even vaguely career related, and someone gives the slightest indication they’re a little bored with their work, I chime in, with advice, words of encouragement, and of course the URL of The InterChange Desk.

Anyway thanks for reading. I hope you’ve enjoyed. If it’s career change advice you want, you know where to look. Right?

Hawaiian Shirts in Kookafornia

Aloha everyone! I wanted to drop by and introduce you to my very first blog, Da Kine Aloha Blog, Authored by the rashly unpredictable Charles S.

While “Da kine” appears in many contexts and refers to almost anything, it is also frequently associated with something good or genuine - “the best” according to some (as in the name of Duane Chapman’s Dog the Bounty Hunter business, Da Kine Bail Bonds).

Wave Shoppe Hawaiian shirts are Da kine of Hawaiian shirts you want to get for yourself but we also offer wholesale Hawaiian shirts for large groups. They will give you a genuine and unmistakable good feeling.

We are absolutely passionate about what we do, if I could go back in time I would be born a Hawaiian instead of a Polock. It has taken me nearly half my usable life to find something I was proud of and that’s Hawaiian apparel.

In our Blog we aim to offer topics (self promotion) on Hawaiian apparel made in the USA and cool things Hawaiian. But then this is Kookafornia, so I also get to write about every bizarre thing that passes by my tired brain cells. Below is our newest pride and joy, a wonderful cotton Hawaiian shirt with Bird of Paradise.

Bird of paradise shirts

Then there is the SEO thing… I do my own web work and with a little coaching (I have a good friend that mentors me from time to time) my own SEO and SEM. My take on it is that you get what you put into it, I put a lot into it, close to 16 hours a day. I see a lot of people in the forums giving advice or asking for it. Seems to me that people are playing devils advocate and dishing out advice like its the gospel, yet they cant even rank their own sites, how good can that advice be?

Then there are the people that are always asking for advice, the problem is that they have been asking the same questions for years. They give me the impression that if they think that if they do the same thing over and over that the results will be different next time, I think not.

Am I bragging that I am all that? Heck no, but my money phrases rank very high and we convert. SEO is way over engineered IMO, you need some game and you must stick with it, maturity and anchor text are important. If you constantly re-work the core architecture of your website how on earth can it gain trust? Do you know that on-page text needs to mature as well?

Wave Shoppe Hawaiian Shirts This is our on-line apparel store, Wave Shoppe Hawaiian Shirts

So now I am tired of SEO and writing in general. Go get your wife and show her our Hawaiian dresses, women do all the shopping in the household; so we prefer to have her visit us. The little lady can score a mid length muu muu or a nice and short Hawaiian dress from Hawaii. Maybe she will get you a cool car shirt.

Mahalo everyone!

Does ‘blogpaul’ really need introducing?

Ok so I am only a legend in my own head. Ya know I am REALLY excited about this introducemyblog thing because I am not the kind of guy who is afraid to tell the truth, no matter how sad it is.

How sad is it you ask?

I have been blogging since the year 2000 and I had NO idea that you could have someone simply register themselves!

But anyway, about the blog, I never really got serious about it until I was fired from my corporate job a week before Christmas 2006 (yes I never tell who the company is but if you do a little investigating at consultis.com you can find out if you REALLY want to).

Ok Ok I will get on with it. I sat around Dec 06 Jan 07 and finally decided that I was going to give this blog thing a whirl (but for cash this time).

screener2.jpgMaking blogpaul a household name (well it is in my families and friends homes!) was the best thing I have ever done in my 35 years…yes, I’m OLD…but I have lots of tattoo’s, take pictures of my 6 year old shooting the bird and then take him to church on Sunday to make up for it! Blogpaul is what I like to call and Extreme Christian, but maybe not the kind of extreme you are use to.

I know God told us not to tattoo or pierce, but he also told us not to have sex before marriage (you email me all the comments you want if you made it past that one!).

Up until this past weekend, blogpaul was about ‘tech . tattoos . talk’ but with the release or my tech site this weekend, I have to replace the ‘tech’ with something else…hey maybe you have an idea for me?

So here it is - Disclaimer: I am a Christian, but I DO NOT get hung up on words. If you get pissed off when people even use the following words, you may not want to visit.

  • Gay, Fag, Homo, Dyke or Lesbian
  • Golddigger, Beotch, Punk-Ass
  • Faker, Poser, Loser, wigger and yes, the word Nigger has shown up on my site but only to talk about the city of NYC banning it which I think is totally cool.

WITH THAT SAID, no one is going to come in there and trash talk…I dont do it, and I don’t allow it…you will find it is actually a very cool place to hang out. I’m just a guy, but I am also a single dad and hold VERY close to family values (I was just too stupid to keep a family together!).

This Dallas boy say’s y’all come visit me and say hi.

Hawaii… A place that a lot of people dream to visit at least once in their lifetime. A place of exotic beauty–from the smiles of its inhabitants to its lush tropical sceneries and world-reknowned beaches. A place where, quite rightly so, “Aloha comes alive.”

So, are you planning to visit Hawaii sometime soon? Thinking about sinking your feet in that warm Hawaiian sand while watching surfers tackle some waves on a sunny day? Or maybe hike up to the top of Diamond Head–arguably Hawaii’s most popular landmark?

It’s all fine and dandy to think about coming to Hawaii, but obviously it’ll take a bit of planning. Especially if you want to do a few things off the beaten path. And it’s easy to do that these days, thanks to the Internet. You can go on websites and blogs, even ask questions on forums about what’s good and bad when you get here.

But there will be times when you can’t find an answer anywhere. Or you might just want one place where you can easily ask your questions and not go through endless search results. Or you just want a place where you can get a few good tips. That website is HawaiiVacationHelp.com.

Who’s behind HawaiiVacationHelp.com? Two local people who know a thing or two about what to do when you get here. But it’s more than that. For more info on who we are, click here.

So whether you’re just looking around for ideas on what to do on your next vacation, or you’re already in the middle of planning one of the most memorable trips to Hawaii, visit us and ask us a question or two. We’d be more than happy to help you out in any way we can.

Aloha,

My Journey to Smoke-Free Living

I’m a smoker.

Wait. I take that back. I’m an EX-SMOKER. At the time of this writing, I’ve been living a smoke-free life for about four weeks.

I’d like to tell you that it’s been an easy journey so far. I’d like to tell you that quitting the smoking habit was as easy as saying “no,” just like what a lot of anti-smoking campaigns would like you to believe.

I wish that was the case. In reality, it’s been a hard and challenging experience. The stress of daily life and work don’t make it easier either. Fortunately though, I had a bit of help and encouragement.

That’s what my blog is all about: a look into my progress in becoming more of non-smoker as the weeks go by.

In addition to my progress, I’ll be posting my thoughts about all things relating to the tobacco industry. From government-sponsored quit lines and anti-smoking legislation to products that purport to help you quit smoking, I’ll cover them all. If you’re looking at quitting the smoking habit, I hope you’ll find something useful from my blog.

So join me at www.quitthesmokinghabit.com if you can. Or if you know someone you think will benefit from my blog, tell them about it. Perhaps one day, they’ll thank you for doing so.

To good health,

Dale
